Access Sports + Philadelphia Barrage = Great Partnership!

Lacrosse Clinic at Hill-Freedman Middle School is a Success! Thanks to funding from the Hoxie Harrison Smith Foundation, Access Sports has partnered with the Philadelphia Barrage to expand their Inner City Youth Lacrosse Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to provide inner city students with instruction from some of the top lacrosse players in the country, along with funding for new equipment and entrance into various lacrosse tournaments in the Delaware Valley. The Barrage has already provided new lacrosse equipment and a professionally run clinic to the students at the Fitzsimmons Middle School. The Barrage has also provided clinics to Access Sports groups serving individuals with disabilities.
On Thursday, March 7, the Barrage and lacrosse star, John Christmas, ran the first ever clinic for the students at the Hill Freedman Middle School. Christmas, an Ardmore, Pa native, graduate of the University of Virginia and current member of the Boston Cannons, taught the young lacrosse players the fundamentals of the game of lacrosse to help open up different opportunities for them in the future.
The Barrage and Access Sports will be holding more clinics at the Hill Freedman School over the spring.
If your company would like to help sponsor a clinic, please contact the Access Sports office: 215-951-0330 ext 2131 or accesssports@rhd.org .

“I am honored to be part of Access Sports for two main reasons. First, it affords me the opportunity to give back to the community in general. Secondly, and more importantly, it has provided me a chance to grow personally. Through Access Sports, I have been able to actually meet the beneficiaries of Access Sports' services. Whether it is a small sports clinic that the Barrage is putting on for the kids or a large group of kids and their caretakers or teachers that come to Barrage games, I have been introduced to each child and supervisor. I get to see real smiles on kids' faces. I believe that is priceless. I also have the ability to introduce my players to the experience of spending time with those less fortunate which is a tremendously rewarding experience."
